First, what is the meaning of technology?
Dictionary.com states the meaning is “the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use of technical means and their interrelation with life, society, and the environment, drawing upon such subjects as industrial arts, engineering, applied science, and pure science.”
Merriam-Webster states the meaning as “ the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area.”
The word is a noun. The word seems to mean that knowledge of a subject matter and applying that subject to something will be categorized as a technology. This is confusing and possibly, me now categorizing this word, absurd.
The word technology could be termed into any idea, whether hypothetical or tangible, and twist that idea to apply to your desired category of culture or way of life that will make things better. Yes, not thinking about monetization at all, I mean who does. I think what I am saying is that your idea could be anything from a new way to travel, John’s Travel Technology or JTT, a new form of art expression, Air Painting Technology, or a new way of life. So where does it end? When will it stop and let us, humans and even animals, look at our personal lives. Children, adults, parents, friends, coworkers, employees and so I can go on and on, but the fact of the matter is technology will continue to run, I did not say ruin, our lives.
In the past 38 years, that’s not old yet, I have seen many technological advances and one is the computer age. The computer has changed the way we think, the way we communicate and even the way I write. I tried writing notes the other with a client and he laughed and said “can you read that”. I was appalled, shocked he would say that, but it was really horrible chicken scratch on the paper. I also then reflected for a moment and have no reason to scold my 7 year old son when he writes a sentence in a big arc across the paper usually mixed with uppercase and lowercase and backwards d’s and s’s. See this is what I am saying, I try to teach my 7 year old how to write when I can’t. But I could write very well back in the 70’s and 80’s and remember writing English in a weird form called something like, cursive.
We are living in a fast paced society with the competition of who has the coolest mobile and who has a GPS in the dash, not me, and who has the biggest flat panel. Yeah, don’t get me started on the deval of flat panels. New gadgets, new tv channels, new kid sneaks with wheels, now reading robots, when will I be able to catch up to “technology”. You need to say that with a deep voice.
I think technological advances could be related to new forms of getting information to us faster using mobile devices on faster networks and upgrading hardware to support the new faster, neck-breaking bandwidth and also that monthly cost.
As new technologies are developed and improved on the old, we need to keep up or at least stay current with trends. Why, you may say, well in most part to make money. Whether owning a business or an employee you need a cell phone, a computer with Internet and also able to e-communicate which may take further education. This takes money and I am starting to realize you need alot of money to keep up with Apple. I’m bashing Apple because I want an iPhone, really bad. The cost of new technologies is staggering when they are rolled out to the marketplace, but as new come in the old get cheaper. That’s when I buy them, lol.
I may be rambling on the topic of computer technology, but technologies from new home options, vehicle options and even clothing technologies that help us stay warmer in cold and hotter in hot. That doesn’t make sense, but you understand what I’m saying and it is beginning to become very difficult to “keep up” let alone afford it.
Technology is how we grow, how we develop and how we vision our future for the next generations of pioneers to look back and thank us for allowing them to upgrade on our ideas and make more money.
